NOC tools

The Network Operations Centre's suite of open source tools can help you troubleshoot and measure network performance. (These tools are only accessible to REANNZ members).

NOC Services Proof of Concept

REANNZ is using open source operating systems and software to implement a number of network services for REANNZ members. Many of the current tools have been created as a result of conversations with REANNZ members. Please feel free to contact us with suggestions or comments at noc@reannz.co.nz.

Other services that are in development are:

  • NAGIOS - measuring availability of devices, circuits and services
  • PERFSONAR - performance measurement
  • MULTICAST6 – IPv6 Multicast Beacon

Network Diagnostic Tool

The Network Diagnostic Tool (NDT) was developed by Internet2 to assist users of research and education (R&E) networks to troubleshoot and measure network performance. Further details can be found at
http://e2epi.internet2.edu/ndt/index.html

Network Router Proxy

The REANNZ Router proxy provides REANNZ members visibility of core network components.

Multicast Beacon

The Multicast beacon utilises multicast streams to report to a central server and report what the KAREN beacon can see, and who can see the REANNZ beacon. Explanations on how to read the multicast output are provided on the beacon websites, or on the REANNZ wiki multicast beacon page
