Reporting to the Chief Engagement Manager the Technical Engagement Manager will be a pivotal part of REANNZ's engagement team, helping REANNZ to build relationships with our members and represent us in key member forums. Relationships will include executive and technical staff within REANNZ members including universities, Crown Research Institutes, ITPs and others. This role will be responsible for developing and delivering, in partnership with the wider engagement team, a technically focused engagement approach and lead its implementation nationwide.

The Technical Engagement manager will:

  • build strong relationships and partnerships with relevant research and IT staff working in the REANNZ member community;
  • provide a range of technical support and development initiatives for REANNZ members, problem solving and contributing to their user experience;
  • identify niche and wider business opportunities for REANNZ in the research and education community; and
  • contribute positively to the wider REANNZ culture.

The successful candidate will possess a relevant tertiary qualification in the research and/or sciences IT area and have experience in the pure or applied area of research and industry. You should be able to demonstrate excellent relationship development and client management skills along with a passion for helping the cutting-edge research and education communities REANNZ serves across New Zealand.

An excellent working knowledge of networking, compute and storage infrastructure knowledge is essential. You will be able to hold credible technical conversations with confidence, and you will be comfortable interfacing at both the executive and academic level. You'll also like to get stuff done, prioritising commitments to deliver on outcomes.
