Vlad is responsible for maintaining and developing the core Tuakiri services, as well as assisting candidate service providers with integration into Tuakiri.
Vlad has done the bulk of the technical work in establishing Tuakiri, the New Zealand’s federated identity management service for the research and education community. He has also built and deployed new features for the Tuakiri service.
Since Tuakiri merged into REANNZ, Vlad has joined the REANNZ team as a senior software engineer. In addition to continuing his involvement with Tuakiri itself, he will also be contributing to REANNZ on a number of other software projects.
Vlad has been involved in the research and education space in New Zealand for almost a decade now, starting on the BeSTGRID project, closely collaborating with the Australian APACGrid and ARCS projects, and diving into the federated identity management space - first collaborating with the MAMS and AAF projects in Australia, and later in his work for Tuakiri.
Vlad received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Charles University in Prague in 2004. After working as a researcher there for a year and spending another year as a visiting researcher at the United Nations University International Institute for Software Technology (UNU-IIST) in Macao, Vlad came to New Zealand to get some ‘hands-on’ experience, and is greatly enjoying the New Zealand lifestyle.
