REANNZ increased 20Gbps capacity secures future of New Zealand’s network for research

REANNZ Ltd, the high-speed telecommunications network powering New Zealand’s research, innovation and education communities, today announced the completion of a total system upgrade to ensure the continued high performance of their network. Trans-Pacific research network now 100 Gbps

Australasian researchers and educators can transfer their data around the world at even faster speeds now that the international network has been upgraded from 40 to 100 Gbps. The Chair of the REANNZ Board, Jim Donovan, today welcomed the official confirmation that the Hawaiki Cable Project is to proceed, with all investment funding, supply and customer contracts now confirmed. REANNZ (Research & Education Advanced Network New Zealand) operates New Zealand’s high-performance network, supporting the specific needs of educators, students, researchers and scientists.
