In 2015 there was a growing interest from our membership to connect to Datacom's Kapua data centre in Hamilton. In response to that interest we developed "DC Connect", a cost effective service delivering diverse connectivity to the data centre. It uses Dense Wavelength Division Multiplex (DWDM) technology and is a resilient shared resource. Several of our members are now connected to Kapua, with new members connecting all the time. The advantages of building a shared connection are speed and cost; because we have already connected from our PoP to Kapua, connecting a new member takes less time, and the monthly fees are up to half of that for provisioning your own fibre. If you are a REANNZ member and you were thinking of connecting to the Kapua data centre, then talk to us about our DC Connect service. We can provide you with a 10Gb/s diverse connection to the data centre, and from there you can then work with Kapua or a storage provider to manage your data.If you want to connect to a different data centre, then please let us know. We may know of other members who also want to connect to the same data centre, in which case we will investigate the feasibility for developing a connectivity solution that saves our membership time and money.
